Rows of stunning and memorable vintage bikes from around the world, gleaming in the sun. Tables piled with interesting parts and fragments of motorcycle history in a swap meet. Classic and stylish scooters in the new Scooters! exhibit. Dirt track racers and some of the men and women who raced them in Dirt Track Heroes, the newest Museum exhibit. A Sunday ride on some of Iowa’s best back roads. If this array of motorcycling experiences brings a smile to your face, plan to attend the Vintage Rally June 8 & 9 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa.
While the Museum in its new location holds over 400 fabulous motorcycles and thousands of great pieces of art and memorabilia, the bike show at the third annual Vintage Rally weekend will be when even more fine machines line up out front for review. Judging will result in nearly 40 awards for owners of the best machines, including the best original unrestored bikes for the Preservation Award. Enter your vintage bike, street, competition, custom, even mini, 1987 or earlier, scooter or dirt track bike, in the bike show. Bike show awards are sponsored by Motorcycle Classics magazine. Got a nice vintage cafe racer? The Ace Café will sponsor a special Cafe Racer award during the Bike Show.
Be part of the dedication of the new Dirt Track Heroes exhibition and take in over 20 great dirt track racers, steel shoes, helmets, leathers, photos, posters and vintage action film footage. You’ll also be able to check out other additions to the National Motorcycle Museum’s exhibits which are always changing and expanding.
Walk the swap meet and pick up parts for your projects or add to your memorabilia collection. Or reserve your own swap meet space if you need to trim your collection.
We have invited dirt track racers and other Hall of Fame inductees, enthusiastic to sign autographs and tell you their important stories. Or listen to interesting characters from racing’s past, racers, tuners and collectors during the entertaining and educational panel discussions. Sign up for the Sunday morning vintage road ride!
Mark your calendar and plan to attend June 8 & 9! Admission for this event will be $10 a day, $20 for the weekend or $30 for the weekend with lunch on Sunday. The event price includes admission to the Museum. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
