At 3pm, December 31, 2002, ten months of wishing and waiting came to an end for nearly 5000 ticket holders in the National Motorcycle Museum’s fund raising bike raffle.
The winner of the 2002 Harley Davidson FLSTS Heritage Springer is Ed Kretz of Sedalia, Colorado. The ticket was drawn by Mary Achenbach, Senior Vice President of Citizens Bank, Anamosa, Iowa, and witnessed by attourney Robery Shimanek, Monticello, Iowa, as Museum visitors and staff waited in anticipation.
“We’re very pleased with the respose the raffle received,” said Maria Tuttle, Co-director. “As a non-for-profit Museum and Hall of Fame, fund raisers and donations are vital to our survival. We called Mr. Kretz to tell him the good news and he was thrilled. He plans to come to the museum the middle of January to pick up the Harley.”
The Museum’s board of directors and staff thank everyone who purchased tickets and those who helped sell tickets. They extend a special thank you to F&S Harley Davidson of Dayton, Ohio, for co-sponsoring the event. “It was a joint effot by many motorcycle enthusiasts and museum supporters. That’s what it takes to make any fund raising event a success,” said Tuttle.
